A Bill Regarding Massage Chair Funding

1. WHEREAS the Student Government Association bears the mandate of serving its

constituents by providing student services.

2. WHEREAS the Student Government Association sees an opportunity to increase student

morale on campus.

3. WHEREAS student-run initiatives can help improve the Hopkins campus and student life.

4. WHEREAS newly implemented policy has largely addressed binge behaviors – the

symptom of stress.

5. WHEREAS on campus stress relief resources are limited. Opportunities are available

Monday and Wednesday through Stressbusters and Tuesday 12-3 pm in Levering.

6. WHEREAS the Center for Health Education and Wellness is in support of a more

consistent access to stress relief.

7. WHEREAS Massage Vending has agreed to a final payment of $3,499.94 for two chairs.

8. WHEREAS the Mattin account is committed to fund $2700 towards the initiative.

9. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Student Government Association will allocate

$800 of funds to the purchase of 2 massage chairs to be placed in Levering Lounge.

10.  THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the commission on these chairs go

into the Mattin Center Repair and Replacement Budget.

11. THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Levering Student Life Office will

look after the upkeep of these chairs.
